Hey Fit Atelier, fam!
My name is Clare Rizer, and I’m the Director of Studio Experience at Fit Atelier. You may have seen me around the studio dying on gliders in a West Kept Secret 5:30AM (early bird gets the worm & a seat on the pain train) or looking graceful(ish) and pretending I have as much rhythm as Sophie in Ballet Fit Theory. But most of you probably know me from my short stint as a Fit Atelier model, showing off our exclusive Heroine Sport x Fit Atelier Marvel leggings (no autographs, please).
But where did I come from? And what the heck do I do?! Great news, I’m here to explain this question you probably weren’t asking, but now might be 30% curious about.
As Director of Studio Experience, my job is to make sure YOU, our Fit Atelier clients, have the ultimate experience every time you step into the pink or blue or whatever-color-the-trainer-is-feeling-that-day room. This means coming in hot to your inbox after your first class and asking for feedback to make sure you felt welcome and valued before, during and after class. This means ensuring clients who hit Fit Atelier milestones are celebrated. This means helping our CEO and Chief Fitness Officer (you might know them as Brit + Mel) develop new class concepts from the ground up. This means finessing existing classes and helping bridge the gap between trainers and the Fit Atelier exec team.
So, how am I qualified to do all this? Well, I truly believe in the statement “You can do anything you set your mind to.” I set my mind to this two years ago after visiting Fit Atelier for the first time (RIP 310 East Blvd.) and bonding with Mel over our shared love of SoulCycle. I was living in Washington, D.C., at the time and working at a communications firm by day and the front desk at SoulCycle by early morning and late night – I was never prouder of something than I was wearing that yellow shirt. The Fit Atelier Instagram and I kept in touch over the years and I knew that if I ever returned to Charlotte (my hometown!), I NEEDED to be a part of this machine and the fitness sanctuary they were creating for women in Charlotte and beyond.
Fast forward to January 2019 when Brit and I met at Undercurrent Coffee in Plaza Midwood and discover we share a brain. The rest is (five months of) history.
But the Fit Atelier story Is just beginning, and I’m so glad I am in on the ground level – surrounded by chic curated athleisure and the smartest team of entrepreneurs and creatives. And I couldn’t be more excited to see the magic we continue to make together.
So, what else about me? I work full-time at a communications agency called Luquire George Andrews where I do public relations for a host of clients, specializing in crisis communications and non-profits. This includes everything from writing communications plans, press releases and op-eds to hosting media trainings, securing media placements, helping develop social and brand strategy and more. I LOVE the work I do there, and I love the team I work with. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky with these two incredible positions that enable me to feel professional fulfilled and personally supported each day.
My best friend is my sister Rachel – you’ve definitely seen her around the studio. She dominates high knees at WKS in way I’ll never understand all while looking smokin’ in her Koral Infinity Shorts. Her and I became workout buddies when we both lived in DC, taking SoulCycle and barre3 classes together every week for “sister dates.” I’m so happy she moved back, too, so our “sister dates” can continue at Fit Atelier.
I am passionate about helping women and girls feel that fitness is not a competition and that it’s so much more than a calorie-burning mechanism. Fitness should be an outlet where everybody AND every body feels loved. And that is my goal at Fit Atelier – to make sure every person who enters the studio know that they are a badass just for showing up. FEMALES ARE STRONG AS HELL.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about me! I can’t wait to learn more about YOU. Always feel free to reach out to me with class feedback, requests, questions, etc. at email@example.com. You can also slide into my DMs @clarerizer.
